5 ways to brighten up your Blue Monday



Blue Monday is the third Monday in January and has been named as the most depressing day of the year. I want to turn that around and share with you a few ways to brighten it up and boost your mood.


1: Treat yourself


Treating yourself to something you wouldn’t usually is the best mood booster due to the endorphins it sends to your brain. So go get that coffee on your lunch break, go buy those flowers to put in your room, oh and that dress you’ve been thinking about? Go buy it because you’ll look great in it and who doesn’t love a delivery from the postman to look forwards to.



2. Make arrangements to see your friends or do your favourite activity in the evening


Making plans and having something to look forwards to in the evening can make your day more enjoyable and go so much quicker. So message your friends and take that trip to the cinema, go to the pub or do some retail therapy - whatever it is make it a date.


I would recommend going to see the new Kingsman or Spiderman if you’re wanting a cinema trip!


3. Exercise


Exercise doesn’t have to feel like a chore and is the perfect way to stimulate your brain and decrease symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress. 20-30 minutes is all you need so make it something you will enjoy. Whether that be weight training, yoga or going on a walk just get changed, pop your headphones in and go!


I currently am following Chloe Ting’s 2022 weight loss challenge which I love because it means I have a schedule to follow. When it comes to yoga I just use YouTube and type in yoga for beginners and choose whichever video I fancy. Putting on your favourite playlist or listening to podcast is also a real motivator and mood booster too!


4. Wear your favourite outfit


Going through your wardrobe and picking out an outfit you love and feel confident in is the ultimate mood booster. The way you present yourself can really change the way you feel so be the girl you catch a glimpse of in the mirror and think ‘damn she looks good’. Main character vibes only all 2022.


5. Do some baking


Baking is a win win situation. Not only are you filling your time, you will have a huge sense of achievement once you reach the end and have something to show for it. I love baking a cake or Brownies as they are super easy to make and taste delicious!!
